EMAE 160: Mechanical Manufacturing
In my second semester at Case I took EMAE 160: Mechanical Manufacturing. Within this class during lecture we learned about manufacturing techniques for the first portion and for the second portion of the course groups presented their Manufacturing Design Projects (MDP) that we worked on throughout the semester in groups of 4. Additionally, during the lab portion half of the time was spent learning SolidWorks and the other half was spent in the machine shop getting an introduction to the mills, lathes and saws. After taking this course I came back on as Teaching Assistant for both the machine shop and CAD Lab portions of the class.
Manufacturing Design Project
My group designed a solution for expandable counter space in kitchens via a device that would store in a cabinet that could the be taken out for when needed to add additional counter space for cooking. In the project I worked on the lifting mechanism and also created the renders and final assemblies.
Extra Credit SolidWorks Trophy Project
Midway through the semester we were given the opportunity to independently create a "Trophy" with what we had learned in SolidWorks. I created a gyroscope trophy as I wanted to play with rendering a motion study.
Fabrication Lab: Hammer Project
As an introduction to machining we made hammers!
